Description

This is the second climb from the left. It cruises up on good rock just to the right of the large flake. An awesome first lead as there is a bolt about every 8 Ft. No excuses here. Good for the grade.

Protection

About 7 well placed bolts to chains on a nice ledge

Twisted Gumby has a great ledge at the anchor to sit down on and relax for a beginning leader to practice cleaning gear and setting up a rappel Oct 4, 2015

Please be aware that this crag is closed to climbing between February 1 and August 31 for nesting peregrine falcons (or at least according to my understanding and the notice on this page). May 31, 2012

At 5'0" this route posed more of a challenge than I expected. With a few ascents I consistently had trouble around the 2nd bolt from the top. Might want to keep this in mind if you are taking out some newbie pint sized folks! May 31, 2012

Twisted Gumby was my first lead climbing outdoors! Great climb for a first timer; however, the height of the cliff plus the height above the Mt.Lemmon highway makes one feel quite high in the sky so it may be somewhat intimidating for a new climber. This route holds a special place in my heart! Sep 1, 2011

Again, easy to z-clip (I did it at first). A little bald below the anchors but easier if you stray to the sides. Oct 3, 2010
very easy to z-clip up top. keep an eye on inexperienced leaders here. Sep 28, 2008

Good first lead. Easy to Z-clip near the top as two bolts are really close together. Good route to learn this lesson on the hard way, so another reason it's a good first lead. May 9, 2006
