Description

This Woodson classic follows the knobs about halfway up the middle of Seminar Wall, with an impounding move or three to the left (crux) before following the corner to the top. A direct line up the middle has been done by Eric Knuth, titled "Move Over Junior, 5.12+"

Protection

TR bolts. Homemade "ladder" in the back to assist in set-up.

Photos

The initial moves are pretty tame but then you shift to the left and subsequent sequence can be tricky. One of the classics of Woodson and should be on everyones tick list. Dec 28, 2008

Had no problems with uncertainty principal, but man, this thing spanked me! Jul 26, 2013

Warmed up on Uncertainty, got shut down on Seminar. I left still baffled at how the traverse goes. (FYI ladder is gone and youll need to hop on someone's shoulder to reach the bolt that protects the slabby scramble to the anchors.) Apr 11, 2015

Fantastic route. Did not find the traverse to the knob to be as challenging as the "set up" for it. The cooler weather we've been experiencing helped a bunch. There is a thick branch behind the boulder that can be used as a step ladder up to the slab, where you can access a bolt to protect your way to the top. Jan 3, 2017

Glad to see this one hasn't been downgraded and people are saying it is hard I don't have the original (red) guide here with me but I think it was 5.11d, which is what I'd say (or hard V3). Maybe my personal hardest roped ascent, or very close, and one of the most memorable...beautiful face, interesting movement, and it really takes work...this is no f'ing jug haul here, people...So Cal granite at its finest. This was always a personal favorite and I can't count the number of times I've done it. A real technical masterpiece! Jul 24, 2018
