Little Murders

5.4, Trad, 150 ft (45 m),  Avg: 2.1 from 76 votes
FA: Alan Vick and Steve Mackey, March 1972
California > Tahquitz & Suic… > Suicide Rock > (v) N Face

Description

This route climb the huge, right-facing corner system at the far end of the crag and is the last major feature on the wall before it peters out into the hillside. Lieback up the corner and at the top either finish straight up or undercling out right via a large, somewhat dubious flake (5.5). Easy descent by walking right from the top and downclimbing an easy flake/ramp system below a large pine tree.

[Hide Comment] Fun & easy climbing. The gear looking flake adds some excitement Apr 22, 2010

[Hide Comment] Awkward climb but fun none the less. Felt more like 5.5 to me. Sep 28, 2015

[Hide Comment] Where's the belay on this route? We had to do it in two pitches because we were running out of rope. Oct 1, 2018
[Hide Comment] Super fun route I'd recommend to beginners (or gumbies like me) who are looking for cruizer hand jams and some fun unique climbing on good quality rock Nov 4, 2018

[Hide Comment] So... a probably better fist lead than Tabby Treat. Takes gear everywhere* and the placements are pretty straightforward. A tree is at the top reduces anchor building concerns.

  • If you traverse across the flake it gets a little runout but it's super easy. If you stay in the book as you climb over the flake, there are cracks for days.

[Hide Comment] the flake is something to behold. somehow the slabby, low angled nature of the flake is holding it in place via an impressive combination of torque and not-a-hell-of-a-lot-of-contact. the thought of underclinging out right on this thing sounds pretty insane. Jun 12, 2021
