[Hide Comment] This is the first climb I did after moving to Las Cruces, thus the name. This crack system is solo climbed by some to set a rope on Piton Power. One of the pins of Piton power can be clipped to protect the initial slab. Jan 19, 2006

[Hide Comment] If soloing the route, you can skip the steep, pocketed face and walk behind the formation for an easy step-up onto the platform leading to the bolts of Piton Power. This avoids the crux of the route and drops the rating to barely fifth class if that. Jan 28, 2015

[Hide Comment] Fun climb, but very loose and flaky. The first bolt of Piton Power is a great security blanket on trad leads. Dec 20, 2016
