Perky's Playground

5.9, Sport, 40 ft (12 m),  Avg: 2.3 from 71 votes
FA: T. Perkins
Utah > Southwest Utah > Saint George > Green Valley Gap

Description

About 10-15 minutes into the canyon on the North wall, you will see 2 sets of two bolted lines the one on the left is facing east, and the one on the right is facing west, with a third line right on the arete. This is in the right group and it is the line just left of the arete or the middle line. A steep varnished face, with really fun moves that almost offset the shortness.

Protection

4 draws and 2 (non-rap) hangers at top. No chains or slings.

Definitely thought we were on Kool Katz 5.7, learning it was actually 5.9 made things make a lot more sense

[Hide Comment] There are now chains at the top. Excellent warm-up route. Also its pretty straight forward once you get off the ground. Nov 14, 2009
[Hide Comment] nice route, crux is in the beginning moves. Once you get past bottom it's straight forward. Feb 11, 2014

[Hide Comment] There are some very large, very hollow sounding blocks on this route. The biggest looks almost detached from the ground. Keep an eye out and knock gently to see if its hollow before committing to the holds. Nov 29, 2014
[Hide Comment] Found a sling, belay device, and some other gear at the base of this climb under a rock. If it's yours send me a message with a description of what was there and I'll get it back to you! Mar 11, 2015

[Hide Comment] This is a pretty good route to do with beginners, but the start is really hard to do in tennis shoes. the feet are a little tricky for the first 6-8 feet. Cruise over to the Damned sisters if you don't have climbing shoes. Mar 1, 2016

[Hide Comment] Fun, short climb. But the holds seem likely to break with a really hard pull. Nov 26, 2016
