Description

The King is the huge buttress near the summit of Apache, visible from many vantage points on the Kasparov Traverse. This buttress looks more difficult than it really is and with some routefinding the difficulty does not exceed 3rd class. Stay near the ridge crest or to the east side of the ridge. The rock is solid and featured and this is a fun scramble to end a classic traverse.

I think I found the same bomber, white granite slab that Eric did. Goes at 5.7 or 5.8, and is totally obvious as you start ascending from the north. Posting a photo.... Jul 15, 2017

Great rock on this last tower of the Kasparov Traverse. A lot of fun can be had if one seeks out what looks the best, not just what looks the easiest! Pulled some really fun moves on my way to the summit on bomber, white granite! Sep 2, 2013
