Description

The route is on the far right hand side of River Wall and can be accessed without needing to cross the creek. 4 bolts on the left hand side of the dihedral lead to the anchor on top. Fun moves requiring good footwork, but not much pump on the arms. Good route to climb in order to access anchors at the top of several other climbs or to avoid needing to cross the creek to access other routes. Lots of loose rock at the top between the 4th bolt and the anchors. Anchors are set up and right of the final bolt. Enjoy this fun warm up.

Protection

4 bolts and a two bolt [anchor] on top.

Good bolt placement, negates overuse. You can climb around to the top of the River Wall and TR the routes (really steep and loose or a long bushwhack), but this one has really nasty drag through a groove. Don't lower on belay. Rap this one. Has such great 10d - 13 routes, but they are over shallow water, seems like a great spot for some solo toproping WHEN I get to that level. Nov 19, 2007
Does anyone know what the bolted arete climb to the left of Dihedral is? Seemed like a pumpy 10b or c to me. Aug 3, 2008

The route adjacent to this dihedral is Arresting Arete... Supposedly it goes at 10d. Apr 26, 2009

I don't know what the rational was for placing the anchor of Dihedral and Arresting Arete 30 feet beyond the cliff up a chossy trough. It makes top roping impossible from the anchors and is a royal pain in the ass. The routes would be much improved by simply adding an anchor at the top of the vertical portion of these climbs. I agee that the anchors are very poorly placed. My guess would be people used to TR off the tree, so they put the anchor just below it... but the last 10+ ft is third class and creates stupid rope wear without serving any purpose. Nov 10, 2018
