Broken Crack

Description

This route ascends an obvious crack about 25 feet north of the Roof Route. This is a good route for the grade and would make a good beginning trad lead. A few nuts and some medium cams do the trick.

Protection

There are no bolts at the top, so either use a static climbing rope to trees that are way back or build an anchor with pro in some cracks at the top.

[Hide Comment] If that pic is indeed of Broken Crack, then there are bolts at the top now. But that pic is of the climb just to the South of Purdy Dirty and the Dihedral. Is that the right one? Jul 19, 2012

[Hide Comment] The beta photo above is Broken Crack, and if you want to have a decent anchor, bring a 40' or so static rope to reach to a tree and a giant boulder. There are no bolts at the top. Feb 28, 2016

[Hide Comment] No way this is 5.5. much easier, albeit a bit dirty in spots. The pro is G rated. Dec 8, 2020

[Hide Comment] Dirty, less fun, and as hard feeling as B-Route next door. Do that instead, as it also has top anchors for an easy lower.

The lower half was the worst and protected well with nuts. The top half was better with better climbing and cams. Oct 18, 2023
