Description

Pitch one, 5.10c - starts just left of a hard looking overhang. It has 8 bolts and an anchor. The first pitch can also be done as a sport pitch, by stopping at the first set of anchors (use a 60 meter rope).

Pitch two, 5.10b - 11 bolts and an anchor.

Pitch three - 10 bolts and an anchor takes the steep face on big holds, this is best done as a sport route.

Walk off, down and east from the ledge atop the second pitch.

Location

The route takes the obvious arĂȘte on the left side of Tanner Rock. At this time, this is the far left, bolted route on Tanner Rock, 200 feet left of the trad route Clippers and Saws.

Protection

15 draws and a 60 meter rope.

Photos

Would be a 3 or 4 star route if bolting and anchors were re-arranged. Kind of awkward now, both up and down. Oct 22, 2017

The top anchor presents a rope drag problem, if the rope runs down towards the bolts - rap from the top (even pulling up the rope so it is hanging free) rather than lowering like a sport pitch. Also our 70 meter looked like it was going to come up short getting from the top to the next set of anchors. Finally, we did a short third pitch to get to the base of the headwall (where Brandon says use the first bolt as an anchor - you are on a huge ledge with boulders, so there are other anchor points). This route is great, you can run it out to the second set of anchors as one pitch. the second pitch (if you went to the second anchors on pitch one) has no anchors so you can use the starting bolt of the 11a sport pitch at the end of the route. Long runners help with rope drag. Sep 18, 2007
