Bloody Corner

5.10c R, Sport, 70 ft (21 m),  Avg: 3 from 50 votes
FA: Maurie and Phil ?
Colorado > Rifle > Rifle Mtn Park > Ruckman Cave

Description

Any 5.10 in Rifle that's not polished is 3 stars. The Bloody Corner is an excellent left leaning finger crack that would probably be a classic 5.9 at Eldo. The bolt spacing is quite spicy around the 4th or 5th bolt, so don't fall there. Cross the "bridge" for the Ruckman Cave and then hike left about 100 yards and you'll find a quiet isolated wall with 5 routes. Bloody Corner is right above a large 10' X 10' boulder and is the 3rd route from the left. Just right of "Bovine Impact".

Protection

6 (now 7) bolts + anchors.

[Hide Comment] I thought this was harder than the 5.9s I've done in Eldo. At least to onsight. Would have rather lead it with gear actually. Didn't feel it was that runout...but for some Rifle bolting perhaps yes. Jul 23, 2007

[Hide Comment] A person would probably be better off leading it with gear. The bolts set you up for an ugly fall the whole way. Still, I like the route. Aug 31, 2009

[Hide Comment] "obviously a Colorado mentality"? Awwww c'mon man. Lumping everyone of any gender, race, location or otherwise is just not worth the hatin'. Come to the Denver Beer Night on Thursday and feel the love.

P.S.- You're right, comparing Rifle and Eldo are apples and hicamas! Feb 23, 2010

[Hide Comment] I believe that Maurie and Phil put this up. Interesting route. Very different for Rifle. Jan 28, 2011
[Hide Comment] I left two biners on the anchor bolts so you don't have to lower through the bolts. Jun 9, 2014

[Hide Comment] Now this has 7 bolts. I assume a lower first bolt was added as it wasn't bad getting to the first without a stickclip. A few spaced bolts, but where the runout is, it's pretty easy. Sep 21, 2020
