Access Issue: Road closure lifted and access reopened after flood damage! Details

Per 200158156: there are no current closures or access issues.

Per [[201167197 Cheyenne Canyon Road was closed until May 2022 for bridge repairs. Only hiking and biking trail access was allowed into the canyon.

Per Stewart M. Green: the North Cheyenne Canyon was reopened after the floods of 2015.

Per Stewart M. Green: ATTENTION!! The Colorado Springs Parks Department has CLOSED ALL CITY PARKS, including Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Canyon Open Space, and North Cheyenne Canon, to rock climbing for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.

This is due to record rainfall totals in western Colorado Springs which as caused severe trail and parking lot damage, saturated the sandstone cliffs, and is causing parts of cliffs to break off.

The parks will be re-evaluated on Monday to determine how the closure will last.

Please respect the closures and take care of our precious climbing areas!

Description

This is the 2nd route on your left as you enter the Amphitheater. It is slightly longer than Slick Willard, but a little bit easier. Good slabby stuff. Break right at a small roof, following a line of bolts to bolted anchors.

Protection

A rope and a rack of quickdraws will be sufficient.

Easy to moderate start, crux is in middle, finish to two bolt anchor next to obvious overhang.

This area was quite wet this week. Be aware that if we have had rains, there could be a lot of water coming down from above. We did this route anyway since the main part of the route was pretty dry, but the anchors were wet and the rock was dampish. We had hoped that it would be dry and solid (as opposed to the sandstone at the Garden or Red Rock), but it wasn't dry. Aug 20, 2008

Well-bolted route, although fairly short. Good route for a new 5.8 leader. Enjoyable face climb -- would have been more fun if it had not started raining! Apr 20, 2010
