Description

The left route on the right set of chains. This is the easiest lead on The Appendage. Straight forward climbing, but, you know, too short.

Protection

4 bolts on the way to the anchors.

Decent little route to start on or if you are new to leading. The chains are so far off the route that I wouldn't recommend topping it. So tricky footwork for new people. May 26, 2014

Fun easy lead. If you're just using this route to top rope the bulge, I wouldn't recommend it. That route has got some crazy angles going on and was just not meant to be top roped. Jun 1, 2012

We didn't have any problems leading or following, since we left the draws up. The follower cleaned. It went very nicely. A pretty fun easy climb. My only complaint is it's a little ledgy. Apr 27, 2011

Fun lead climb, the anchors are in a bad spot for top roping, if you fall you swing out under the overhang and it's hard to get back on route. This also makes cleaning pretty tricky. Oct 1, 2010

I would agree that this is the best easy climb on the appendage, but not the easiest lead, which I think is the Lead, which is so easy it's not really that fun. This climb is fun but it can be a pain to clean because of the location of the chains and the way the rope wants to force you to swing out. This is also a problem when you're just top roping it, for that matter. It's not a huge deal, just be aware of that detail on your way down or up because once you swing off it's a royal pain to get back on. Aug 20, 2008

I think that this is the best easy climb on the Appendage. It's more consistent than the other routes. Mar 25, 2008
