Description

Venus Rising is a nice problem on rounded rock. Pull up from a stand start on the undercling with strenuous moves to the top of the arete. The left arete is off but doesn't really seem to be tempting with the flow of the movement. A sit start adds a number to your 8a card, if that's your bag.

I have a love/hate relationship with this thing. Finally sent today, but only after I got a huge flapper from the undercling. May 18, 2009

I love this problem. It's just so pretty. Just a big tower with great features. Stoked to get it done :) Aug 14, 2010

I heard from some friends that the upper left hand crimp chipped a little bit. I climbed it today and yup it's broken, but just a small piece. I didn't notice much difference and I think the grade is the same. Hopefully it doesn't break any more. Jun 30, 2011
So, this is an eliminate? The left arete holds are off?!!? Sep 10, 2011

Anyone done this as a sit start? The link from the sit into the current start isn't particularly hard but does mean you have to catch a swing into the undercut and get the left foot up to the current starting hold. Adds a bit for sure. May 24, 2015

Hey Tristan, yeah the sit gets done regularly. I think it's a solid V7 from the sit. May 25, 2015

Sounds about right. Cool, I'll definitely try the thing with the sit when I'm next at the lake. Thanks for the response Remo! May 26, 2015
