Description

This is a classic arête climb on fantastic rock. Well protected, excellent position, and sustained moves. This route alone is worth the hike. It gets morning sun.

You can see the line from the rope and the four bolts that are relatively evenly spaced. The bolt anchors are over the edge, so topping off is a must, but the top of the rock is stable to sit/hangout on.

[Hide Comment] The quality, shape, and position of this rock almost beg you to climb it. Each move is almost exactly as hard as the other, with the last being the hardest. As AJ said, worth the 30 minute walk by itself. Dec 22, 2003

[Hide Comment] Well worth the long walk, this route features a laser cut arete on excellent dark grey stone. The crux comes just past the first bolt but the moves stay continuous all the way to the anchors. Three stars out of five (more if it was longer). Feb 10, 2004

[Hide Comment] This is two-star climb (one for rock quality and one for interesting moves), but I only give it one to offset the previous four-star rating. I DID NOT think it was worth the hike, its just too short! There are better ways to spend your time in Joshua Tree. Mar 11, 2006

[Hide Comment] Climbed this beautiful route last weekend, well worth the 30ish minute hike, however the nut of the first bolt is very loose right now. I didn't have a wrench, so I thought I'd try and warn the next party. A fall before clipping the 2nd bolt would not be a fun time. Jan 20, 2021
