Visible from the parking area, this distinctive arete is perhaps the best route in The Asylum and fully worth the short hike to access it.

The lower section is a balancy, sharp arete which gives way to an easier middle section. The crux comes at the very end with small edges on excellent rock, and while possible to "escape" left and make this a little easier, the better rock and moves lie straight up.

Great rock, excellent position and engaging technical moves make this a stellar route. Four stars out of five.

5 bolts, anchors (all 3/8")

Phenomenal. Interesting climbing down low. High crux is tricky and reachy, with a brutal body-sloper topout. Excited to project this one! In December, it was in the shade from noon (or earlier, dunno) to 4ish, then briefly in the sun again. Dec 9, 2014
Awesome route. Crux is from the last bolt to the anchors. Topping out is strenuous due to the fact that its devoid of any good holds. Mar 28, 2011
A great climb, good rock, fun moves. Apr 13, 2006
Don't get this personality mixed up with the 5.9 version on the Shorter Wall. Feb 21, 2006
