Start as for Brimstone Stairway (5.1 R). About half way up, traverse right along small ledge and continue to top.

Some long webbing and a few pieces if toproping.

I know nobody's crazy about Morbid Mound, but as a beginning climber this was a great place to get acquainted with Joshua Tree climbing, and to practice building anchors for toproping. Access up the NW side is easy, and there's a few cracks that work nicely with large stoppers or cams, and a nice big boulder to sling with a long piece of webbing, all right at the top of this route. It was a good confidence builder. Jan 14, 2009
