From the NE Ridge, we headed straight up to the end of the arete and the spectacular, but lower, "north" summit. This is not the real summit, but the beginning of the ridge traverse. As far as I get it, the actual NE Ridge traverses left along the NE face below this point and then crosses over to a fun 4th class ridge traverse.

Morning the day after. Took awhile to find a flat spot on dry ground. The available water had 3/4" of new ice each morning.

Not sure if everyone goes this way near the top. Couldn't remember how we went back in 1977 when we did the North Arete. All I remember about this day was how cold it was. - May 2013
