This topo map shows the terrain and degree of slope for the area approaching the NE Gully of Thatchtop. (A.K.A. where the avalanche potential is).
Approaching p2 belay.
Thatchtop NE Gully, 17 Dec 2017. 30 meters WI3. At the top of this pitch was a rat’s nest of tat with two oval biners to rap off. Didn’t climb higher due to high winds. There might have been more ice higher, but didn’t see it.
The WI 3 first pitch that consists mainly of snow bonded to the rock.

The first pitch in fat conditions. The approach in 2012 fall season was all scree - no snow slogging. The low angle ice above was also fat and fun climbing.
