Loon Lake mountains from the Southwest. You can just make out the fire tower on the left summit, and see some of the rock faces on the east peak.
On the approach... dense woods up high made for slow going at times. On our first visit it took 6 hours to find the rock we were after.

Skip doesn't know it, but he just passed within 100 feet of the West Crag and didn't see it. Bring your GPS. Loon (or maybe Kushaqua) Lake in the distance.
Looking at just the "east peak" now. The arrow is the Easter Island Face, or something very close to it - there are a lot of cool ledges in that area. If this peak were above Keene Valley we'd all know about it!

Looking East from the fire tower. The close, larger piece of rock is The Slab. Higher up are West Crag and South Crag. This shot shows the sharp delineation between the hardwood forest of the lower slopes (good 'whacking) and the upper conifers (ugh.)
