No death. The bat was fine and eventually flew away after a few minutes of shock (after I pulled the huge flake off that it was sleeping behind). Mar 16, 2018

I've been fortunate to work with both species (professional biologist focusing on bats). Both have large ears, although the Pallid is significantly larger in size. Pallid bats have "pig like" nostrils as seen in the photo, while Townsend's have a characteristic lump on the nose and the inner margins of the ears touch. Check out fieldguide.mt.gov/speciesDe… and fieldguide.mt.gov/speciesDe… for some pictures. Sep 14, 2018
