An intermediate belay in the middle of P2 - not a lot of room - most climbers run out to the big sandy ledge "like a beach" 80 ft higher up. (Thanks Russell !)

It was a cold day in the fall of 2003 when two intrepid explorers (Sue not pictured) were coerced to climb Olive Oil burdened with crash pads. The destination being a boulder problem in the descent gully which Hans bravely ascended.

On hike back- this is the correct Cut-off path directly to stream and cars. Staying on the left trail you'll swing around nearly to the base of the Mescalito.

This boulder on the left is a great spot to stash your backpacks as the descent trail meets back up with the ascent trail about here. The route can be seen in the background on the right.
