Key approach Beta to the new moderate sport routes: GPS Lat: 38.59'23N Lon: 119.54'27" is where you take a left off the main trail to castle rock and take this climber trail South down a steep-ish, loose sandy gully. Often no carins or markers here. Miss this turn off and it will be much more work/time to find the routes.

Just wanted to add a little more detail for those seeking the new moderate sport climbs at Castle... Maybe this will help those who don't have a GPS app on their phone, this essential left turn is immediately after you hike through a narrow gap between 2 chossy boulders. Then you follow this trail South into the loose dirty gully and all the way down to the bottom. You will pass a 5-bolt steep sport route on your right that feels hard .10-ish. When you get to the bottom of the gully, a left takes you to what I think is called "Kindergarden" (2 low 5th class 6-bolt routes). On the right are a great 5.9-ish 9-bolt route that starts on a steep crack/arete and a blocky 5.8-ish route around the arete. Next is a bitter little 5-bolt face that feels 5.11d to me. I think this is probably "The prize cliff/Excaliber" (sic) from the old hand-drawn topo (see the link to this in 'comments'). A trail will take you to the right (West) along the South face. There are 4 more well bolted moderate routes along this trail. If you hike this far enough (some loose scrambling required), you get to the Southwest corner and there are 6 more bolted routes to be found. Some of them start off of a ledge and are tricky to spot at first. Cheers, and happy hunting. Sep 5, 2016

Great pic! This is found on the Left 20' after Castle Gates boulders, leading down through the East Gully and meeting the main climbing area approach trail between School Rock (Left) and Playground Rock and The Prize Cliff (Right). Sep 27, 2016
