Yeah. It was a hard-fought contest between the crummy bivy spot and the coldness as to which was worse. We agreed the coldness won. Certainly could have been a lot worse though! Jul 2, 2015

Negotiating the Wilson Overhang. Climbing is easier farther out in the overhang, but gear sucks you in where the climbing can be desperate.<br>

The famous Wilson Overhang pitch.

Generally, little has been said about the approach ramp to the Steck-Salathe', even though at least one highly skilled 5.11 leader has fallen to his death here. In this photo, Nurse Ratchet negotiates the most exposed section of the approach, a 5th class area of disintegrating grassy hummocks. We fixed our rope across this section the day before the climb to speed our approach the next morning.<br>

Unfortunately, this pitch is simply known as "the pitch after the Wilson Overhang." You'll definitely want to go for the flake/face climbing to the right of the squeeze!

Looking up on p1. We were able to scramble higher up right than this so look out for this corner and the characteristic choke stone.
