What does the belayer have to do with it?

The route starts inside, under the roof. That is where the belayer ought to stand. I had clipped the bolt in the roof already and the belayer came out from under making the rope go under me as I climbed. When I fell my legs caught on the rope and flipped me upside down. I should have noticed that he wasn't in a safe spot, he should have seen it as well. Lesson learned. Jun 29, 2017
