I agree, from my understanding this mattress was found in the woods off the side of the road in the area but that doesn't mean it should stay. We no longer live in the region so someone else will have to remove it.

One project we never finished in the area is the road side slab to the left of the boulders when viewing from the road. The slab is about 20ft tall but covered in moss, a nice cleaning and a few bolts will probably reveal a nice 5.7-5.9 sports route, good project for future groups. Mar 1, 2014

As one of the three people who first climbed here, I can't agree more with PDub-Trad.

Has the mattress been removed? Jan 5, 2014

ok so its great Pike is getting some traffic and attention - but the twin size mattress - lets go ahead and take that away. If you don't have a bouldering pad leaving a bed mattress to get disgusting and nasty and likely draw attention from land owners, its not the answer. Every bouldering area I've ever visited where folks leave in-situ garbage pads (camp pads, mattresses) in every situation vermin tear it into a gigigllion pieces and it ends up trashing the whole site. Take your mattress back! Leave the area nice for those coming in and out with crash pads. 150 bucks isn't too much to spend to respect the area, other boulderers and land owners Aug 8, 2013
