Hiking through the night was painful. Especially for me carrying my skis and boots up to the top of Palmer. It was a good wake up call for how out of shape I am.<br>
<br>
At times we were lost and cold, but hey, totally worth it for views like these.

Coming up the gates in early June

Heading up the icy and windy Pearly Gates. Wind was channeling ice and snow at us. Helmets were essential. Goggles would have been nice.

Not the best conditions for skiing, but a fun route otherwise.

Most groups heading up the old Mazama Route but start your traverse left (west) sooner than these groups did and stay out of the fall line.
