Found this cool shot of Mt. Elden online. Furthest right piece of rock is the Red Dragon. To the left of that is the Devil's Chair. The canyon in the center is Solitude, then Oaklands, and finally the upper portions of West Elden.

Flicking clear cutting is an abomination and looks like hell. Fortunately this has grown over, but it takes years for that 2nd growth to cover up the mess the timber crews leave in their wake. Sep 11, 2014

There was no clear cutting here.
It's a fairly solid volcanic mass up that side, much steeper than the photo makes it look.

And of course the Elden fire of '75 started on this side and swept up the canyon to spill over the top.
