About 3/4 way up the gargoyles. The rope weaves on alternate sides of the gargoyles - there are no other anchors.

Been a climber almost 40 years. A few big walls including A4 high on El Cap. Never done anything as horrifying as this.

Consider just one aspect of the Russian Roulette. Sure, if lead climber falls right or left, then No. 2 should jump the other direction, if he has the nerve. But what if instead of No. 1, the snow crumbles under No. 2 and he goes one way or the other? Lead climber won't see or be able to react until the rope pulls him.

If No. 3 sees No. 2 fall, and has the steel to dive opposite, will he have the gravity to keep No. 1 and and No. 2 from pulling him up and over?

I just never had what it takes for Alpine sketch. I like my rock anchors. Oct 24, 2015
