The re-inspected clip the the rope tensioned on it and chair attached. Now run in another chair holding the monster de-tensioner in place on rollers. As with much of ski lift maintenance it is very redundant.

The new location has a core that must be removed. This particular rope is older and like many others of that age it has a hemp braided core.

The hollow shaft assembly, now cold, will be placed back in the center. It has a bearing on the bottom and top with spacer sleeves inbetween. The bullwheel still needs to be split for install and removal purposes.

Shaft/bearing assembly

Ten part pully system reduced this rig to about 1700 lbs., to pull a rope off of a bullwheel. The lift is nearly a mile long up and down.

This contraption, on the haul-rope, is a de-tensioner. It grips the rope then pulls the middle together making a "bird cage". We set up scaffolding to work off of.

Drive station bullwheel replacement. The wooden box on top holds the rebuilt shaft/bearing assembly packed with 150 lbs of dry ice.
