Snowy day. Looking down about halfway up pitch 2. 1/9/2011.

Ryan on the 5.5 West Face of Castle rock. This image may make it look a little more dramatic than this fun little pitch really is, but hey, that's the point of bringing the camera along, right?

West Face Route, Castle Rock. The easiest line is shown (5.5). A direct line up the wide slot below the anchor is also possible, but protection is sparse.

Le piece de resistance! Chocolate stout.

Pitch 2: Amy finishing following on pitch two.

Pitch 3: summit shot back towards Nederland from Castle Rock.

A little stiffer than the stuff below, maybe 5.7, but there are holds in there somewhere.

Look for Jon in the white shirt. He's at the top of the first pitch where the two-bolt anchor is.

Go past bolts, up thru chimney to belay here to avoid rope drag on P2.

Castle Rock's West Face

The descent anchor as of 7/23/23 - visible once you're ~10' above them. Look for a clearing with a dirt path a ways down. Descend on rocky terrain in the direction of that clearing until you are level with 3-4 large trees. The anchor is behind 1 of them.

The last little scramble to the top which we just ran out to our anchor.
