Painting your chains at the crag...

1. Should Chains even be painted? I mean it's not like you can really disguise them that much.
2. If you are gonna paint your chains, maybe it would be best to complete that task at home.
3. If you must paint your chains at the crag, maybe it would be worth it to bring some newspaper?
This is possibly one of the most moronic things I've seen at a sport crag, and that's saying a lot!

Okay, for context and explanation:

THE STUPID LIST:
Sport Climbing Area.
Sport Climbers.
Permadraws made of unknown-strength hardware-store chain.
Us as a community allowing these unsightly, dangerous, and stupid jewelry pieces to festoon our otherwise decent sport climbing crags.
The BLM for not emphatically discouraging this lame practice.

Anything in this list that's not stupid, let me know so I can put it on the Very Smart Things list. Jan 12, 2012

No way. That's mind blowing! Taking the time to camo chains, but not considering spray painting the rock, who could be that stupid? Jan 12, 2012
