This is the 5.10 second pitch. The camera angle makes it look steeper than it is (although it is quite steep enough, thank you very much). Once you reach this point, the pitch is pretty much over--the hands and feet are both great and turning the roof is no big deal (you're actually climbing the face below the roof, and not the roof itself). The crux is, well....down below in all that thinderfulness in the corner. And as I recall (1983), I tied off that bit of grass up near the top of the pic---as a directional. Sep 10, 2014

The 5.7 part is well below her; a ~120 foot inside corner. P2 is 5.10.

5.7?! Doesn't look like it from this point of view. But I trust the grade b/c I haven't done this climb. Great photo!! Nov 14, 2013
