This photo of Sugarloaf was shot from the base of the Organ Needle before sunrise during a typical early approach (headlamps in and headlamps out).

Organs viewed from Sugarloaf summit

A very old rack (1980s? 90s?) found recently by Marta Reece and I near the bottom of the gully descending down to the west from Low Horn 4. It's likely that the rack was washed down the gully from higher up. The only pro still attached to the rack is 2 nuts (#8-9). Some of the slings are Blue Water and most the carabiners are Wild Country. If you happen to have lost a rack in this area decades ago, we'd love to hear the story.

Another Scenic Photo

No Paved Road!

16-Nov-2012. Basecamp ~ 2/3 way up trail to Sugarloaf. Sun setting behind the Organ Needle (I think). Forecast had high 60s, sun & 0% precip for a week. Held true for that day & the last. Organ weather didn't agree at all with either Las Cruces or White Sands forecasts for 3 days in between. Cold, windy, wet. Always come prepared. woops.
