Really? So, can we blame Will for the rope burn and damage on the tree (which is still there)? What about the three other lines on the boulder? Have they all been sent (they have, but I'm begging the question)? Mar 28, 2010
Adam, I wish there was no damage to the tree and that this was a fabrication. The rope is still there, forcing the tree to grow at an angle and damaging the bark.

I don't think I violated Guideline #1. I was calling into question the name of the problem and the FA. Can you list all "six" lines for us? I find it discouraging that one would need to tie a tree - and then leave it that way - when the boulder had been successfully climbed without. Jun 10, 2010
Adam, thank you for demonstrating your lack of respect for the climbing community and the environment. If the rope is yours, as you claim, why did you not take it down when you were done (I guess you agree it is not a fabrication as you stated earlier)?

I'm not sure what "ethics" you are referring to, but it has never been OK to cut down a tree.

This boulder resides in an OSMP HCA - meaning that we are still lucky that OSMP even lets us climb back here. Do you really want to limit access for the rest of the climbing community?

The problems had been climbed successfully without the rope, so why tie up a tree and then leave it? Just doesn't make sense. Jun 17, 2010
