Snow Plant (Sarcodes sanguinea)

San Bernardino National Forest
The snow plant (S. sanguinea) is not a fungus, its feeds on fungi. It is parasitic plant in the Heath family (Ericaceae) that draws nutrients from underground mycorrhizal fungi. Oct 5, 2015

Yeah, it is nice. Strangest this is it isn't a plant at all, but a fungus. Jul 1, 2014
