Float trip on the Dirty Devil.

Oh, hey, sorry guys... just saw these comments. I believe it was just over 500 CFS when we did it, which was kind of shallow for the first half day but pretty good for the rest of the trip as the canyon only gets more entrenched. I borrowed this cataraft rig from a buddy for this trip. I've usually used a duckie for most dez trips (except for the big rivers). This was nice though as you can do a Barney Rubble type maneuver when you get stuck. Randall, who was in a duckie, had to get out and pull his boat quite a few times when I could just stick my legs down in the water and scooch along. Great run this one is. Just be careful when you get down to what use to be the lake. I'm not sure what it's like now but when we did it the river ran free all the way to the Colorado, but in the last half mile we came across a horrendous mud slot where the river was eating down through the old lake bottom silt bed. It was ugly and we barely got out in time. That forced a cross country march to the road and our car. It might be a good idea to scope it out when you leave the shuttle car down that way. Yes, very nice looking boat for small desert creeks that run for a few weeks every so often. May 10, 2010
And please do share more photos of your rig. That's a nice little pack raft looking thing. May 10, 2010
