Climbed this yesterday and have a few comments. The overview photo shown here looks wrong: firstly the start is too far right; secondly at the end of the rightwards diagonal trough on pitch 2, you go into the gully for pitch 3 and climb up a slab to a crack, on the buttress on the right. Pitch 3 is a long pitch which starts with a gully scramble, climbs the slab and rises more steeply once on the crack. It might makes sense to split it by moving the belay up the gully a bit or putting in an intermediate belay in a handy niche on the white slab below and right of the crack start. Either way you can make the ledge 30' above the current hanging belay in the crack (not hanging at all but at a very small stance). At the ledge you move right to another crack which after 30' becomes the water runnel above. The belay in this is near the top and is also not hanging, just a small stance and there are good runners in the crack (in varnished plates just above) to protect the belay... no need to go left. Pitch 5 is about 5.4 and runnerless for a good way. Athough there is a mass of hollow plates nothing I used was unreliable so you can weave up this in a way that shouldn't trouble any experienced 5.7 leader. Above the runout section, we followed pink ribs above to a biggish tree (several OK belays near this) and then on pitch 6 took partially black varnished slabs up and then slightly right to the Romanian exit cracks: all on good rock: there was no need for any bush whacking or rubble climbing. 'Pitch 6' is at least 300' to the top ( it was 400' the way we did it).

As for all the First Creek Slab 5.7 routes, nothing on this route seemed harder than 5.6 to us, the crux was maybe the pitch 1 overlap. Most rely on good experience in route finding and ropework, with some runout sections on not always perfect rock, especially so for Big,Sky; really enjoyed it. Dec 16, 2017

I concur that the start on this picture is too far right. 30 feet left of this line, where the white on the left and varnish on the right meet is the spot. Look up for the diving board roof, shown on another photo of pitch 1, for a landmark. Dec 17, 2017
