Preparing to descend the Valle Blanche into Chamonix. This section of the Alps has the biggest, most accessible concentration of classic alpine rock and ice routes I've ever seen! Worth every bit of the hype. Go if you get the chance.

Looking up the Hornli Ridge. Mostly 4th class and easy 5th w/ a half pitch of 5.7. The route has an excessive amount of fixed lines.
Midway up the Hornli Ridge on the Matterhorn. Mid Sept. 2003. With snow the week before, most parties cancelled their climb. I got lucky w/ perfect weather!

Bear Creek, Telluride. A 10 minute walk from downtown. Pretty fat ice in Dec.1998, a year when the snowpack was below normal.
