Paul contemplating which way to go. The Sundance finish goes up past the black streak and into a tiny crack system which looked tricky to protect and quite run out. The left dike system (Sundike) looked much more interesting and fun.  
The tie-off knob needed to protect this section is clearly visible above, and is used for either variation. When I did the route back in the 80's "Sundike" featured really poor 1/4" bolts...I assume they were replaced (?) Though the topo in the old red guide called this variation "5.9", I thought it to be more like .10a at the first and second bolts. The left way is not nearly as compelling (...scary...) as the direct way; however, the direct is the actual "Sundance" route. Aug 12, 2014
