View from the top of Cat in the Hat. Beautiful, fun, and easy beginner route. Definitely a classic

Unknown climber on the awesome sixth pitch of the route as seen from Juniper Peak. November 2009.

Start of pitch 4. Note the traverse to the left crack under the roof.

Larry climbs the last and best pitch. The rock looks black and sinister, just the way I like it.

Double runner at bolt helps for no drag and skipping short 5 traverse pitch

Red Chimney last pitch before the top of the Mescalito. Good pro in the squeeze (up to #3), sorta runout easy but fragile face to the left up to climber at anchors.

Rapping off the top

Slab to jugs finish on the final pitch. Probably the most delicate section of climbing on the route (more sloping holds and friction than positive edges and jugs).

Linked P1&P2 but couldn't find what seemed like the bolted belay for P3.. here's where we decided to set it up, just below the big, janky-looking juniper.

Variation to pitch 4 (or 3)of Cat In A Hat. Far left corner of roof. Seemed to be a few grades harder than the 5.6 normal route. A couple of hard 5.8 moves about 20ft up from where I am. A bit run out as well. But very nice.

A shot of me on the final pitch of Cat in the Hat. Definitely the most exposed pitch.

Ali, leading pitch three

Half way up the last pitch, this whole crack is very featured, great hold and footers, easy to place gear. Just above the crack ends into some tough slab, which is protected with a bolt at the crux.
