Me looking forward to a great adventure on Dr. Rubo's. I was lucky enough to have Scott Baxter loan me his hand jammies so I could lead the 2nd pitch solidly.

I think "hand jammies" have a bad rap on account of that lame-sounding name. Call them "crack gloves" and instantly it's much better. I agree, crack gloves and taping are the same, and people poking fun at crack gloves just haven't used them yet. Jan 28, 2011

I've always been curious as to why the climbing community has decided, arbitrarily, that sticky rubber on the latest reverse camber, slingshot rand climbing shoe is OK, but sticky rubber on your hands is cheating!!!!
I'm with you, Scott, Handjammies are quicker, easier and more effective than tape, and you don't see gobs of Handjamies littering the base of climbs.
I through myself at a fat crack going out a 6 foot roof a while ago and was actually bleeding under the Handjammies. I should have taped under the Handjammies!!! Or maybe I should stop clipping so many bolts and climb more cracks!??... with my Handjammies of course. Jun 20, 2008
