Note that this photo shows little, if any, of the actual SW Face route, which is also the standard downclimb descent from the summit. The SW Face takes a line more or less behind "Way of the Ancients" (4) depicted in the photo.

A soloist recently fell to their death from The First while possibly descending the east face proper. The start of the fairly easy but very exposed 5.0-5.2. The SW Face downclimb is not obvious from the summit.
