Let’s climb McGregor Slab anytime Oct 14-18

I’d like to climb either Left Standard (5.5), Indirect (5.7) or Right Standard (5.6) anytime the week of Oct 14th.  I lead 5.7 and would love to swing leads with someone on either of these (or other) McGregor routes.  I climbed Indirect 20 years ago and remember it being a blast, I even wrote the route description back then and it’s still there today.  Hit me up if you're up for 4-6 long pitches of high quality, moderate granite slab, dihedral, cracks and roofs high above Estes Park!

Fifty years ago I would scramble up McGregor when I got a chance. Great chunk of rock.

Agreed, McGregor is a quality chunk of rock and I’m mildly obsessed (and hoping to) climb it again after 20+ years since the last time.

We are honored to have you continue to contribute to the climbing community, John!  Seeing this comment made my day!  I can just imagine you making quick and easy work of McGregor back in the day!

seems like it is a scramble

 not a partner objective

5.5 - 5.7 climbs now don't need a partner?

Looks like I have a partner for this….. super stoked!

Regarding this being a scramble, for expert climbers (50 years ago John was an elite climber) this is an easy scramble but most of us are using ropes and protection and a partner on climbs in the 5.5-5.7 range.  25 years ago I was a pretty strong climber leading 5.10 trad but didn’t even think of scrambling/free-soloing this.

Alex Honnald scrambled (aka free solo) up El Cap….. does that make El Cap a scramble?  No, it certainly does not.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
