Hello everyone! I just got this .5 used and when it arrived I immediately noticed that the wire was bending oddly and the lobe wasn't returning to its normal position. I am new to trad and not sure what kind of issue this is. See attached video! Thank you all very much.

Ben,
Some of my BD cams do the same thing, including my .5s. It’s not a problem with the cam and looks to be caused by length differences in the trigger wires causing a tad amount of slack in the wire when it’s fully open.

With usage, cams get a little bent out of shape. Just bend the trigger wires as needed. Clean the springs. Etc.

^^^^ THIS ^^^^

Each side of the cam has 1 long wire that controls 2 lobes. The problem you're having is the center of that wire isn't centered in the trigger.

There's a couple of ways to fix it but care needs to be taken not to break the plastic trigger nor over crimp the wire.

A: Push the wire up and out of the trigger's keeper tab that holds the wire. Center the wire and pop back under the tab. Caution not to break the plastic tab.

B: Sometimes you can pull on the trigger while holding back the lobe with the shorter wire. Caution not to break the plastic trigger.

C: With pliers pull on the short wire. Leveraging the pliers against the trigger. Caution not to break trigger or damage wire.

Hi Ben, you should stop using this cam. The advice above in this thread is true, the cables can become displaced but that is not what is happening here.

Your cam spring has become dislodged from the hole in the lobe where it is intended to sit. I have highlighted the tail of the spring in a screen shot from your video below.

This is usually a warrantable issue but it sounds like you bought them used? maybe worth reaching out to BD anyway to see if they will replace it or give you a discount.

This spring being out of place means the proper force isn't being applied top that lobe and in greasy placements it might not have enough force to grab the rock properly.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
