Anybody been up there this summer? Is there too much snow still? What would the hike and camping in the cirque be like?

the only snow was pretty much in the cirque itself. most of the cirque is still covered so camping was a little hard but we picked some spots out among the rocks. ice axe/crampons could be useful to get to the base of routes

The Gear Room posted an update on their Instagram. Collin's Highway can be navigated without touching snow. Tons of snow on the approach and in the meadow. Stop by the Gear Room and grab some wagbags to restock the kiosk if you're going up!

Just returned from my first time in the cirque. Get after it while it's good. Here's some notable observations for someone fixing to get up there:

  •  water is currently available starting just after you pass Enniss peak from Jacob's Ladder.
  • much of the meadow is under snow still with a few exposed patches of rocks in there, but camping can be found. Not too tough to manage.
  • Snow levels below the meadow were dropping noticeably, even over the 2.5 days we were up there.
  • I packed crampons and ice axe, and don't regret it,  but my 2 partners were able to accomplish the same things with micro spikes, trekking poles, and some care.
  • Collins highway is pretty civilized, just a few deep patches of snow to maneuver around.

Pack out your poop and have some fun.

Cheers
