I got this idea from Trevor’s thread.

Rules are simple:

Describe a route. Person who names it correctly describes the next route.

I’ll start with a slow pitch.

Walk the plank, many .3 to .4 fingers through a couple crack switches and bulges to a sting in the tail finish.

It was a super slow pitch to get the ball rolling.

Warm up on a hand crack through a small roof

Clip a bolt, take a breath, and commit to a face traverse

Pull the crux, shake it out, then lie back and hand jam to the finish

This pitch is a shorter skinnier version of a classic devils tower route. Sure to provide a good lower body burn.

Hit my post limit. You're up JCM

Bolts, bolts. Power drill?

Inside the wilderness line.

Watch out for rock fall.

Good guess, but no.

Hint: the "power drill" line references a controversy / internet blow up over the route when it went up in the 2000s.

Mikey ghosted us so I'll revive the thread. He's probably out climbing something rad though, so I guess that's forgiven.

Anyway, next route/hint: (just a coincidence that both my routes so far have had hints related to bolting history)

This rap-bolted climb pre-dates the famous Watts Totts by two months. But it also takes a few pieces of gear, and slab is lame, so it doesn't get credited as America's first sport climb.

5.8 lieback crux, the name alludes to the outcome of messing up. To narrow it down slightly it’s on the lower half of the formation.

@JCM sorry for the ghost.  Not climbing anything rad, but packing to leave for a 7 week trip.  Running around with my head cut off!

Cool idea for a thread by the way!  Way better than bullshitting about the semantics of climbing.

That's gotta be it. I just did it last week though and I don't remember a layback?
