With money.

I stayed in the les bossons campground a few years ago for a week or two. Think it ended up being like 15-20 euros a night. Cold. I believe you can get a pass that gives you unlimited access to the lifts for like 300 euros a week. Otherwise each ride up the midi is around 60 euros. Getting from Geneva to chamonix is easy by bus, and there’s a free bus network throughout the valley.

It’s not dirtbagging cheap, but also a bargain for what you get in terms of access. Bring skis.
