There’s a lot of blm land adjacent to the park for free camping. Personal favorite is BLM South, which is a stone’s throw of the cottonwood entrance. Bring water and pack out your trash (no bathrooms either).

The cottonwood entrance is a ways from any climbing. The BLM northeast of downtown Joshua Tree is a better bet. It’s a lakebed with no outlet so don’t poop there do it in town or in the park.

word thanks dude what’s the scene like there these days?

is it worth it to find someone to split the camping fee w instead of driving in and out of the park everyday?

I think so.

$10 / night for 90% tweaker reduction is a decent payoff, but I have a job, so I'm biased

Contact Todd Gordon, if you're cool, you may be able to do some work-trade on his property, and you'll be at the center of the J-Tree universe

Absolutely. It’s something like 50 miles round trip from lakebed to hidden valley and back. Not just money but time saved, and camping in hidden valley can be a really fun experience.

ok sick dude thanks for all the help!!
