After 7 days of collecting feedback from the community in this thread - I feel confident to propose the idea of a Geology/Glaciology forum with knowing it's something that the Mountain project community is interested in.
The purpose of the forum is to congregate data + learning resources on the geology and glaciology on areas that are frequented by climbers. Personally, I have benefitted from learning a laymen's version of geology acquiring a better understanding of how to identify rock and predict how it might behave on a micro level from an objective hazard standpoint. This information also has value from an intellectual curiosity standpoint, and the forum would give the geologically/glaciologically minded climbers a place to express their climbing specific geological interests. In addition to that, there are many geologists and glaciologists amongst climbers that would likely make for strong contributors to the forum.
The final nail in the coffin, as pointed out by MP user Connor Dobson, is that this is technically "mountain" project - not "climbing" project. ;)
That's the idea. Hopefully we'll see it at some point in the future!
