Lost / Found Rope Threads

It's funny how often these appear.... I don't understand how one could forget to carry out their rope after a day of cragging.

How do people hike out and not realize that 10 pounds is missing from their pack?

My guess is that 9 out of 10 "found" ropes have been left/stashed on purpose. If a rope is wrapped up in a tarp or rope bag and stuffed under an overhang it is not lost. If a rope is coiled and laying in the middle of a given crag then I agree with zoso's above comment.
